Home

Oh, Dear Friends...
How can I tell you all how grateful & overwhelmed I am by your amazing & gracious thoughts, prayers & sweet comments? You will never know how very much they have meant to me. One night, after a particularly bad day at the hospital, my sister & I laid on my hotel bed & read them all. It brought tears to our eyes to know that so many lovely hearts were sending us & our Daddy, their strength & love to get through this tough time.
Thank You!

My poor Dad is having such a hard time recovering from this. His injuries are so severe, that there is hardly a place on his body that isn't in pain. I really do like his doctor & believe in what he has been saying...that even with a man in as good of shape as my Father is, an accident like this shows your age. We just have to give his body the time it needs to heal & be patient. {unfortunately, my family has a genetic flaw when it comes to this trait}

With my sisters keeping watching over Dad, I was able to come home for a couple of nights & I'm sooooo happppy to be HOME! I don't know if any of you are like me, but I always have an on going list in my head of things I need to get done in order for my house to be JUST RIGHT. It's too small, so I want to add a 3rd bedroom & 2nd bathroom. I want a nice big deck built off of this room, so double french doors can open out onto it & we can sit outside & drink wine in the evening admiring our beautiful view. I'd also like to have a charming gazebo & a lovely little garden there to add ambiance to this imaginary space & the list, I'm sad to say, goes on.

Leaving the hospital, I was giddy with the idea of going home. After having had such an emotional & stressful few days, my mind was transfixed on getting up the mountain & feeling the cool mountain air. Following the road that leads to my house, the list in my mind disappeared & when I finally got HOME, it looked simply 'PERFECT'!

These pictures are of a small vignette I've been working on in a corner of my bedroom to use as a work space or computer desk or whatever it turns out to be. Before the accident, I had just finished recovering the garden chair. The desk is an old sewing machine table, I found the mirror at the Senior Thrift Store across the street from my shop & the hand craved, wooden angel came from the little antique store next door.
My house is filled with wooden angels. They are my guardians, my spirit guides, my signs of faith & they are the one's that kept my Daddy alive on that wet & foggy morning. I can't wait to come home & find the perfect place to hang up this one in honor of my Dad's gift!

XOXO

Hello Susie,
The thought of you back in the comfort of your home is heartwarming - there with all of your guardian angels (what a wonderful collection!). Your Dad is in good hands with the hospital staff and your sisters...now you can take a little rest. Will continue praying for you and your Father, and sending you lots of hugs!

Susie, Thank GOD & all your angels that your sweet Daddy is improving. You say he a bit hard headed & impatient... maybe he won't forget this lesson. I remember you saying on the day you were rushing to the hospital "THAT WILL BE THE LAST TIME HE RIDES THAT MOTORCYCLE". maybe he will decide this for himself now. I would hate for you to take away his keys... Now, just rest in your own little nest & take care of yourself! These things are so very stressful. Know that all of your friends are there for you. HUGS! Charlene

Hi Susie,
I am so sorry for your Dad's accident. I will keep him and your family in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that he will fully recover. No matter how serious his injuries, God will heel him and I know this to be true. My husband suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm 1 1/2 years ago and no one including his doctors thought he would make it, but after having brain surgery and staying in the ICU for 3 weeks, he was able to come home. It took him a while to recover and he still has a few small things he has to deal with everyday because of his aneurysm, but he's alive and just started back to work a couple of months ago.
Keep the faith and know that your Dad is in good hand's.
Sincerely,
Melinda

Good to hear the road to recovery for your Dad has commenced. Isn't it interesting how when life throws a curve ball we somehow manage to forget plans to change our worlds.

Susie,
Did you get an email from me? I sent you one about some help I wanted with my site. I think it might have gotten lost among the computer app that is called Entourage. I never have been able to successfully get on there.
Would you let me know if you didn't hear from me and I will rewrite!

Just stopping by to see how your father is doing. Must be so hard to see him suffer but the main thing is that he is here and he is fighting to get better, right? Love your photos, they are great!

Oh Suzie, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's accident! I'm glad it wasn't worse but my heart goes out to you all in this painful time. In my own small experience with chronic pain I know how discouraging it can be to be in constant pain...it takes a man of great character to handle that with such grace and positivity! Your daddy is clearly a wonderful man!!

I have the same "perfection list" for my little home...and it's been kicked into overdrive lately since we are planning to have both our sets of parents over for a meal for the first time in our newlywed nest on June 2! Nothing like the looming visit of a mother-in-law to make you want to make the house absolutely perfect (especially since she used to live here with my husband before we got married!)

My best wishes for a speedy recovery for your father!
Hope Ava
